Oh my goodness! That's SO funny! Great stories! I made my daughter's wedding cake - with 4 kilos of Cadbury's milk chocolate! It wasn't the most artistic thing I've ever done, but since most of the weddings I see (around one a week!) the cake lies around almost untouched in little piles of delicate chunks, to see this cake fly was a perfect result! I did try to save some for the bride and groom, but somehow the staff got hold of it and it was never seen again!
One couple whose wedding I photographed last year (see http://89.200.138.14/~weddingp/online/view.php?main_pagesize=48&flag=view&section_id=1890) had a beautifully displayed tier of cup cakes for their cake, only to find that by the time it was to be "cut" that some kind soul had taken them all off the display stand and arranged them - on a flat PLASTIC tray! See herehttp://89.200.138.14/~weddingp/online/view.php?flag=view&section_id=1891

That's so funny Elisa! Your advice about choosing to laugh instead of cry is priceless!

Our cake was the highlight of our wedding for me because my 90 year old great grandma made it! All my childhood memories were relived with the first bite of my wedding cake. Grandma says she'll be around to make our Silver Anniversary cake and knowing her, I do not doubt that for a second!

Our wedding cake was the star of our wedding as well but not for the same reason as yours! Our cake melted! Slowly but surely all the frosting melted off the cake and eventually all the cakes started sliding off the tier stands. It was so pathetic that it was hilarious. People started taking bets as to when each cake tier would fall - the band would do drum rolls... the Master of Ceremony quickly came up with ten wedding cake jokes...

We didn't eat the cake, but it was still quite the star of the show! We could have cried, but we decided to laugh instead. I know it sounds weird but it is my favorite wedding memory!
